The Ambassadors have grown substantially in 2011. This has been the first year we have stood on our own as a BC Society and we will be holding our first AGM in April to mark our accomplishments. This year we have directed water quality monitoring and hosted educational and lake stewardship activities. We developed a five-year strategic plan, gained approval to implement the non-regulatory recommendations of the Lake Windermere Management Plan, and took steps to increase community awareness of our activities.
The Lake Windermere Ambassadors were granted official designation by local and regional governments as the Lake Management Committee. This designation means the Ambassadors Board will help implement the educational and non-regulatory recommendations in the newly released Lake Windermere Management Plan.
Ambassadors’ members and volunteers followed the Ministry of Environment’s new protocols when conducting water quality monitoring on the lake this past summer. The efforts of volunteers this past summer helped add more valuable data to a growing baseline of information on the health of our lake.
