This winter the Lake Windermere Ambassadors will be hosting an interpretive tour of Lake Windermere during the Snowflake Festival (Taste of the Valley) on Friday, January 17th.
The tour will depart from Kinsmen Beach at 4pm. Bring your own skates, and be prepared to walk if the ice isn’t in good condition that day. This event is FREE!
On the tour, we will share interesting facts about the lake and its shoreline, including information about what is going on in the lake under the ice during the winter. Bring your scientific curiosity, because we’ll be drilling holes in the lake to test hypotheses about lake temperature.
Also during the Snowflake Festival, look for the Ambassadors’ booth at the Kinsmen Amenity Building. Students from David Thompson Elementary School’s Leadership Class will be sharing information with visitors about how to keep the lake clean during the winter. Come by early and get a special treat!
