Born in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland was where Shawn called home. He feels blessed to have been born into a family that enjoyed spending their summers sailing together. Shawns parents owned a 28′ sailboat, their family would spend their summer holidays on the water. They would load up with groceries, ice, a couple Bob Marley cassettes, and head off exploring the Gulf Islands, the sunshine coast and the eastern coast of Vancouver island. It was an amazing way to spend time as a family, and Shawn would’t trade those experiences for all the money in the world. The sea is in his blood. Although we are short on salt water around these parts, one thing we do have a lot of is pristine fresh water. Shawn hopes it can stay that way for many decades to come. He enjoys spending his time on the lake doing the simpler things, including pontoon boating, relaxing the day away, and fishing when time permits. Shawn believes Lake Windermere is a direct link to the health of our community as a whole, if she is sick, so too is our community. He has been a resident of Invermere since 2015, and the East Kootenays since 2010. Shawn joined the Lake Windermere Ambassadors shortly after moving to Invermere because he could see the importance of the task at hand – A healthy lake for a healthy way of life.
